About Us
Mama Buluku is an exhilarating display of music, dance and song, inspired by the living traditions of West Africa. Innovative choreographies led by director Pascale Richy fuse movement with the playing of big bass “doun doun” drums, whilst percussion divas Natalie Richy, Jacinta Foale and Tracy McNab drive high energy live polyrhythmic beats. Collectively their dedication and study culminates in over 8 decades of experience!
This all-women’s ensemble – with deep gratitude to their mentors from Guinea & Ghana – offer an intricate weave of primal rhythm and spirited dance into a stunning, visually extraordinary, contemporary, uplifting performance that celebrates the awakening and expression of the powerful life force that exists within all of us.

Doun Doun Dance Workshops & Classes
Learn to dance to the beat of your own drum!
Classes and workshops are high energy and loads of fun! Whether you are experienced or a total beginner you will be skillfully guided to maximise your grasp of dance steps and drum breaks whilst taking your fitness to another level!
Pascale is an accomplished drummer/dancer with over 20 years’ experience in performance and teaching. She has studied with African masters of traditional music and dance in West Africa and Australia. Her aim is for participants to feel uplifted and empowered, experiencing the joy and invigoration of this brilliant art form which brings deeper grounding and connection.
